The Vision

Material ConneXion® was created by its founder, George M. Beylerian, to fill a need in the creative circles where materials are specified and where the future of the built environment is planned.

The visual landscape, which we inhabit, contains buildings, industrial and consumer products that all require intelligent, ecological and innovative materials.

Keeping in stride with progress into the new millennium, Material ConneXion is the unique world source that physically and virtually connects users and manufacturers of innovative materials, which determine the shape of things to come. A critical turning point, which inspired this project in 1997, was the feeling of staleness in buildings and products. Most creative professionals are truly inspired by innovative materials; wouldn’t a Material ConneXion wonderland give enough challenge to all those involved with design and architecture to make an effort to innovate, improve the state and spirit of design and create a more exciting, comfortable, and ecological environment through the experience of material innovation? The success of Material ConneXion since its inception proves that this inspiration was valid and desirable.

Nowhere in the world have materials been celebrated as they are at Material ConneXion. This highly adventuresome destination exposes the visitor to endless surprises, featuring museum-style exhibits highlighting some form of material innovation (exhibits on Titanium, materials used in tension in architecture, ecological materials and digital technology). Lectures, seminars and social events add to the diversified activity list where all sorts of “conneXions” take place.

A Library Like No Other

This unique material Library was created to give its users a distinct advantage to discover the latest and most exciting materials originating from a large spectrum of industries, otherwise impossible to reach, to review them from all aspects, to qualify them according to MC standards and to present them to its members with technical specifications for engineers and easy-to-comprehend product description and applications for all users of the database. This special business process is unique as a search mechanism, an incredible time and cost saver for those who are researching and exploring in the materials field.

Material ConneXion's Jury: A Unique Perspective

All materials in the database are juried monthly by a panel of material specialists, knowledgeable professionals from related “user” and “producer” industries and technicians from different sources of processes such as weaving technology, metal foaming and co-injection molding.
