Hand-printed paper with natural indigo pigment. This paper is 100% cellulose, printed with pigment derived from Indigofera tinctoria, a species of flowering plants from the bean family. The blue color is obtained from the processing of the plant’s leaves. These sheets are made with a unique dyeing technique specifically for use on natural fibers. Paper is sprayed with water on both sides to allow for ink absorption, then ink is poured with various objects sandwiched between the sheets: flowers, leaves or additional paper, to create varying designs. After several minutes, the paper layers are separated and left to dry, allowing the ink to oxidize. Once completely dried, the paper is then washed of excess ink and dried again. This process allows the ink to fully absorb into the paper, and will not bead off or run when coming in contact with water. This material is printable and is able to be customized by thickness, pattern and coating. The sheets are sold in A4 size: 21 x 29.7 cm (8.3 x 11.7 in) with a thickness of 200 gsm (5.9 osy). This material is available with a minimum order of 50 sheets with a 30 day lead time. Applications include stationery, book binding, packaging and interior lighting.
