The First Certified Biodegradable Plastic
TimePlast is the first and only patented additive for the nano-degradation of plastic. The company can mimic the natural enzymatic process up to 100% by using a thermo-chemical and synthetically-based approach to create biodegradable plastic. The end result is a powerful liquid that can turn almost any plastic into a wax. This liquid is used to disintegrate about 98% of the plastic structure while maintaining all of the same properties as the original plastic; however, it is more recyclable and it breaks down into wax instead of microplastics at the end of its lifecycle. TimePlast is taking biodegradable plastic to a whole new level.
While regular plastic does eventually degrade over time, this process takes thousands of years. The new additive decreases the lifespan of conventional plastic from 1,500 years to around 15 years. TimePlast is supplied by the pound, and 1 lb (16 oz) of the additive can alter 1,000 lb (16,000 oz) of plastic. It does not alter the color, and the same process of adding colorants can be used. Applications include anything made out of plastic, with the exception of high-performing plastics, such as ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). Waiakea will be the first brand to replace its 100% recycled polyester (RPET) water bottles with Timeplast’s process.
